Dear
Parents/Carers
The staff and Committee of Houston Community Nursery extend a warm welcome to you and your child. We hope that you find the information in
our web site useful and relevant.
The nursery was formed in 1995 by a group of volunteer parents and has flourished ever since. The nursery enjoys the status of being a registered charity and all the benefits, which accrue from this. Our aim is to provide high standard nursery education for those of 3-5 years old in the local vicinity.
We are fully constituted and are an associate member of the Scottish Pre-School Play
Association. Since 1998 we have successfully retained a partnership arrangement with
Renfrewshire Council for the provision of funded nursery education.
The minimum staff to child ratio for this age range is 1 adult to 8 children. However, we at Houston Community Nursery have an excellent ratio of 1 adult to 6 children.
The nursery was subject to an H.M.I. Inspection in November 1998 and is inspected annually by
Renfrewshire Council's Pre-School Community Organisers, a requirement of the Children Act
1989.
The staff aim to make every effort to ensure each child gets the very most out of their pre-school years and above all has fun with friends old and new.
